Reading
In second grade, students move from learning to read to reading to learn. We focus on comprehension as well as decoding. Students will learn to sequence a story, identify main ideas, story elements, and the author's purpose, as well as being able to make inferences and predictions based on the reading material.
Second Grade Reading Terms
•Fluency= The rate in which you read.
Reading that is flowing, not choppy and reading with expression.
•Comprehension= Understanding what was read.
•Fountas & Pinnell - A reading program that allows teachers to determine the students Independent and Instructional Reading Levels.
